Temperatures and sunshine
April strikes the balance most travellers want: 24-29 °C afternoons, mild evenings for dinner on a rooftop and generous sunshine. The first real heat (above 32 °C) can arrive late in the month. The UV index reaches 8, so sun protection is a must.
By mid-April the sun rises around 6 am and sets around 7 pm: nearly 13 hours of daylight.
Things to do in April
Everything works: medina and souks, gardens, Atlas day trips, a night in the Agafay Desert, a day in Essaouira at 19-20 °C. It is also an excellent time for a road trip to Ouarzazate and the Drâa Valley before the heat. Hot-air balloon flights benefit from often calm dawns.
Pool or not?
Afternoons are warm enough to lounge by the pool, but unheated water is still brisk early in the month. By late April swimming is pleasant in most riads and hotels.
Good to know
April coincides with Easter holidays in the UK and France: it is high season, with higher prices and queues at Jardin Majorelle. Book early and visit the main sights at opening time.
