Temperatures and sunshine
February is the way out of winter. Afternoons often reach 20-23 °C and some days already top 25 °C when a southerly wind sets in. Mornings stay cool, between 5 and 9 °C. Rain is light (26 mm on average) and comes as showers lasting a few hours, followed by very clear skies.
By mid-February the sun rises around 7:15 am and sets around 6:20 pm, almost 45 minutes more daylight than in January.
Almond blossom and the Atlas
From late January into February, almond trees blossom in the Atlas valleys: a trip to the Ourika Valley or Imlil shows pink and white orchards under snowy peaks. Up there, bring proper warm layers: it often freezes at night in Imlil.
Things to do in February
February suits anything on foot: the souks, Majorelle and Le Jardin Secret, a stroll through the Palmeraie. It is also a great month to head south: in Ouarzazate days are sunny (19 °C) but nights close to 4 °C. Agafay is beautiful at sunset with a warm jacket.
Good to know
In 2027 Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February (confirmed by the moon sighting). Tourist life carries on, but some small restaurants close by day and the city transforms after sunset: see our Ramadan in Marrakech guide. UK half-term and French winter holidays push up demand in some weeks.
