Temperatures and sunshine
Early September still feels like summer (35-38 °C afternoons), but temperatures fall steadily through the month to around 30 °C by the end. Nights cool to around 18-20 °C. Rain is scarce (15 mm on average), sometimes as late-day storms. Mid-month the sun sets around 6:40 pm.
Things to do in September
All the classics become comfortable outside the hottest hours: medina, palaces, gardens. The pool is still perfect. Trips to Imlil and the Atlas are pleasant by day, keeping an eye on storms. By late September nights in the Agafay Desert are ideal: mild, with no hot wind.
Why September is underrated
Once schools go back, visitor numbers and prices fall just as the weather becomes some of the best of the year. The sea is at its warmest in Essaouira (about 22 °C), the best time to swim there.
Good to know
The month starts hot: if you travel before the 15th, keep the summer rhythm (early sightseeing, afternoon break). After the 20th it is already ideal autumn weather.
