Since 20 September 2026 Morocco has been on GMT (UTC+0) all year round, with no clock changes. Marrakech is therefore on the same time as London in winter and 1 hour behind in summer, and 1 hour behind Paris and Madrid in winter (2 hours in summer).
What changed
From 2018 to 2026 Morocco stayed permanently on GMT+1, switching back to GMT temporarily during Ramadan. Decree no. 2.26.530, published in the Official Bulletin at the end of June 2026, scrapped that system: on the night of 19-20 September 2026 clocks went back one hour, and the country now stays on GMT, Ramadan included.
Time difference with Europe
| City | Winter (late Oct → late Mar) | Summer (late Mar → late Oct) |
|---|---|---|
| London, Lisbon, Dublin | same time | +1 h vs Marrakech |
| Paris, Madrid, Brussels | +1 h | +2 h |
Example: at noon in Marrakech in July it is 1 pm in London and 2 pm in Paris.
Practical consequences
- Daylight: the sun rises and sets an hour earlier on the clock than before the reform. In late December it sets around 5:30 pm.
- Phones: they update automatically if their software is current. An old device or app may show the wrong time: check it and set the time manually if needed.
- Flights and transfers: tickets always show local time; double-check transfer confirmations issued before the reform.
All times on Marrakech Weather (sunrise, sunset, hourly forecasts) are local, i.e. GMT.
