Temperatures and sunshine
October is the perfect season for most travellers. Afternoons range from 26 to 31 °C, evenings are lovely on a terrace and nights cool to around 15 °C. The first autumn rains can arrive late in the month, usually as short showers. Mid-month the sun sets around 6 pm: since 20 September 2026 Morocco has been on GMT all year round.
Things to do in October
Everything: wandering the medina, gardens, pool afternoons, hikes around Imlil, sunsets in the Agafay Desert, road trips to Merzouga now that the summer heat has gone. Balloon flights benefit from calm, clear dawns.
Good to know
October half-term in the UK and the French Toussaint holidays bring lots of visitors at the end of the month: book early and visit Jardin Majorelle at opening time. 31 October is now a public holiday in Morocco (Unity Day). The gap between day and night grows: keep a jumper handy for the evening and the desert.
